BitGo appoints revenue chief to drive global sales strategy

Pete Najarian joins BitGo from Bitcoin wallet provider Xapo, and has previously worked in emerging markets sales at RBS and UBS.

Cryptocurrency custodian BitGo has appointed a chief revenue officer, tasked with driving the company’s global sales strategy and execution.

Pete Najarian will join BitGo, reporting to chief executive Mike Belshe, from Hong Kong-based Bitcoin wallet provider Xapo, where he is senior vice president of institutions.  He has 20 years of experience working with institutional investors across a variety of senior roles.

Prior to Xapo, Najarian served as global head of emerging market sales for Royal Bank of Scotland, responsible for the firm’s institutional sales teams in 27 countries and focusing on fixed income, loans, currencies and commodities. He has also worked at UBS in several senior emerging market sales positions, including head of institutional client coverage for Asia Pacific and head of US and Latin America emerging market sales.

“Pete has a deep understanding of capital markets and an exceptional breadth of experience in financial services. This makes him a perfect partner for institutional investors who are entering the cryptocurrency market,” said BitGo CEO, Belshe. “We’re building the financial infrastructure of the future and Pete’s experience in both traditional financial markets and cryptocurrency will be critical.”

Najarian added that from his experience working with institutional investors, it’s clear that interest in cryptocurrency is continuing to grow, presenting significant opportunity for companies like BitGo.

“I’ve spent my career working with institutional investors and what impressed me about BitGo is the company’s commitment to delivering both the services and depth of client engagement that are required to build long-term partnerships with institutional investors,” Najarian stated.
