US institutional over-the-counter (OTC) digital currency trading platform Genesis Global Trading has made several senior appointments to its management team, including its first employee based in Europe.
Genesis confirmed in a statement that it has expanded its leadership team to boost the legal, technology and business development segments of the business.
International attorney Arianna Pretto-Sakmann, who has previously advised banks, brokers, clearinghouses, exchanges and investment managers on cross-border regulations, has been named general counsel at Genesis. She will advise on all legal aspects of Genesis’ trading and lending activities.
At the same time, Pat DeFrancesco has been appointed chief technology officer. DeFrancesco joins Genesis from a machine learning start-up that is developing predictive trading signals for US corporate bonds. Prior to that, he led the technology teams for credit trading at ICE following its acquisition of Creditex.
Genesis has also hired Leon Marshall as head of European business development, the first full-time employee at the company based outside of the US. Marshall has more than a decade of experience as a senior commodities portfolio manager at UBS, Trafigura and Apollo Management.
Finally, Dan Torrey has been named head of institutional sales at Genesis, responsible for developing the firm’s trading and lending sales pipeline. Torrey has formerly served as the global head of FX e-commerce sales at Northern Trust, and head of sales for the Americas at ICAP FX/EBS.
“It is really exciting to add this talented group of professionals to the Genesis team,” said Genesis CEO, Michael Moro. “We are confident that these individuals will build on our sustained success in the digital currency marketplace and play critical roles in expanding our business around the world.”
