Ethereum founder joins ErisX board of directors

Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin has been appointed to the board at ErisX, alongside former SunGard CEO Cris Conde.

Crypto futures platform ErisX has confirmed two new appointments to its board of directors, including Joseph Lubin, the co-founder of cryptocurrency Ethereum.

Lubin is also CEO and founder of ConsenSys, which builds infrastructure, applications and services for the Ethereum network. He joins the board at ErisX alongside FinTech entrepreneur and former SunGard CEO, Cris Conde. Conde is replacing Cliff Lewis who has been on the board of ErisX since February last year as an independent member.

“As two leaders in the digital asset space, ErisX will benefit from the unique perspectives they offer and the enthusiasm they bring to the space,” Tom Chippas, CEO of ErisX, commented. “We also want to thank Cliff for the significant guidance and support he has provided, including helping shape the digital asset spot and regulated futures market.”

ErisX has made a string of high-profile appointments since announcing its intentions to launch in October. Recently, industry veteran Matt Trudeau joined the crypto platform to lead its strategy. Trudeau has helped major financial institutions in the early days of their launch, including Instinet, Chi-X and the Investors Exchange (IEX).

The organisation also gained a $27.5 million investment from major financial organisations including Fidelity Investments and Nasdaq Ventures. The company said at the time that with backing from such authoritative firms, the exchange’s position in the market has been cemented.

“ErisX has a unique position in the market with support from a wide range of investors as well as experienced leaders at the helm,” Lubin also commented. “I look forward to bringing my experience with decentralised technologies and digital assets to a model that will further democratise access to digital assets. 2019 is likely to be a breakthrough year for digital assets, and the exceptional ErisX team is poised to lead.”
